Apr. 9, 2014 Nigerian combat troops drafted to Borno have expressed trepidation over the successful killing of a respected troop commander, Col. Kabiru Salisu in an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) this Monday. The APC’s are battle troop transport vehicles which the army use and believe should protect them from artillery attack, however Boko Haram fire-power was able to set the APC on fire, killing the Commander and other troops in the vehicle, raising fears as to the safety and efficacy of the equipment at the disposal of the Nigerian army.

On the night of 14–15 April 2014, 276 female students were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria. Responsibility for the kidnappings was claimed by Boko Haram, an Islamic Jihadist and terrorist organization based in northeast Nigeria.
Immediately after over 200 girls were kidnap in Chibok, Borno State by the book haram #BringBackOurGirls hashtag become the global flavour of the moment. All over twitter, Facebook, instagram, celebrities and famous people were clawing for the release of the innocent girls. (The celebrity roll-call included Sarah Brown, Michelle Obama, David Cameron, Kim Kardashian, Diddy, Ellen DeGeneres, Hillary Clinton, Anne Hathaway and Angelina Jolie) etc
