problems at Man U.
Manchester united certainly looks to be out of ideas recently, following the match against west ham little will you haVe nothing to say except ‘no flair’ and ‘absolutely no drive’. Blind was to the rescue and the questions pop again should LVG really sign Falcao? Is he really worth 50M quid? And is wazza really offering enough in the midfield?
From a fan point of view, the chances of United signing Falcao on a permanent basis are now about as slim as the Colombian embarking on a scoring streak.it is easy to conclude that nothing is adding up for the columbian lethal striker we knew.
The name ‘EL Tigre’ in stanford bridge will always bring back the memories of a lethal soccer finisher who smashed a hat-trick past Chelsea in the colours of Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup of 2012? He’s certainly not at Old Trafford. For injury has undoubtedly diminished his powers. Falcaos body languages and facial expressions doesn’t even depict of an individual who has confidence in himself. He moves like a lost soul who is looking for a finder; a disaster.
With 15 league appearances he cannot blame a lack of opportunity, either. The only saving grace for United is the ‘try before you buy’ nature of his loan deal from Monaco. At this rate, they’ve had a try, and they won’t be buying.
Van persie on the other hand reached his very peak in 2012, the year which he bagged in 56 goals. 26 for united and 30 for Arsenal. He won Sir Alex his farewell title. Those two years apart, his best returns read; 18, 12, 11, 11, 9. The point is this: Van Persie is by no means a guaranteed source of goals, primarily because his fitness record hasn’t allowed him to be. Van Persie is a fading force.
Don’t ever get it wrong, Wayne Rooney is still a player every top manager will want to have in their side but the problem of the English front man is that the fact that his so versatile is beginning to prove a problem for him. LVG started him on the right side of the midfield diamond on Saturday and he was left playing most times in his own half. This is a talent wasting. LVG needs to get Rooney amongst the top three and get a place for Herrera and Mata; these guys are some of the creative ones in the team.
From 11 midfield outings he has scored just three times and is now without a goal in his last eight matches. In attack, his record reads far more favourably – five goals from nine games. Given Rooney’s nature and thirst for goals and glory, it won’t be long before frustration kicks in, and that in turn will unsettle the team. If Rooney is United’s best striker – and the numbers would suggest he is – then that is where he should play.
At this stage of the competition, any chance of formation experiments cant be entertained and lots of Manchester united fans are beginning to ask questions about the tactical knowledge of the gaffer but till then lets stick with LVG knows best.
